Student Communications Specialist

Hiring for 3 shifts - morning (8 AM-11 AM) afternoon (12 AM- 3PM) evening (3PM-6PM)
Hired applicants must be able to work one of the above shifts 3 times per week (9 hours total/wk) minimum.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience using computer software: Microsoft Office, excel and other academic software; Customer service skills; and bilingual in English/Spanish. Knowledge of Spark Central by Hootsuite is a plus.

Experience with platforms: TikTok, Instagram, Spark Central by Hootsuite, and Discord all a plus. Must be able and willing to learn about these platforms and possibly act as a moderator on a Discord server.

Essential Job Functions:
Main focus will be assisting with our new app (content creation and student support) and possibly chat.

Student communications specialists will assist in the communication and promotion of UI events such as Avanza, Meet the Vandals, Envision, Sneak Peek, and UIdaho Bound.  
 
Representatives will communicate with prospective students via phone call, email, text, chat, and social media.

Reps will have the opportunity to share ideas on what it’s like to be a vandal on campus from a current student point of view. Must be open to using a variety of university social media platforms for student communications.
 
·        Willingness to work selected evening and weekend events during fall/spring semesters
·        Ability to attend weekly team meetings and work in-person.
·        Developing and maintaining knowledge and understanding of current admissions criteria, admission deadlines, points of contact and basic knowledge of U of I; student experience, and the ability to communicate that experience in a clear and concise manner; programs and services
·        Working together with supervisor and colleagues to communicate and execute job responsibilities
·        Willingness to collaborate regularly with Enrollment Marketing
·        Develop an understanding of cultural competency, and how to communicate effectively to different audiences 
·        Independently developing remote working strategies to develop a resource database for prospective students and families. 
·        Assist with inputting inquire cards (Tell Me More) 
·        Social Media outreach and management  
·        Assisting colleagues with team projects  
·        Other duties as assigned 
 
The SEM Admissions Communications Center is located on the top floor of the Bruce Pitman Center on the Moscow campus.

Holidays and weekends off. Less than 10 hrs of work required/wk. More hours available upon request.
