Salary Ranges:
GS-05: $35,265 to $45,847
GS-06: $39,311 to $51,103
GS-07: $43,683 to $56,790

The incumbent serves as a Forestry Technician in a Bureau of Land Management office. The work of this position may serve both to train the incumbent in higher level technical forest management work and to support the work of higher graded technicians and/or foresters.

As directed by the supervisor, the incumbent may plan and conduct segments of forest inventories, administer timber sale contracts, prepare forest road layouts, execute plans for slash disposal, forest plantings, thinning, and forest disease and insect control. Performs timber sale reconnaissance and unit design and marks timber for proposed timber sale tracts. Conducts timber cruises or sample surveys to estimate volumes of timber for timber sales or for forest stand inventory, preparing and entering data into automated systems. Performs emergency fire suppression and other duties as qualified and assigned. May be assigned to oversee the work of lower graded employees.
