Ready for the next step in your career? The City of Walla Walla is seeking its next Library Director who will lead, plan, direct, coordinate and supervise the development and operation of the City’s Public Library.
 
The City of Walla Walla has started the conceptual design phase of a potential library expansion project that would bring our 50-year old library building into the 21st century. The City is in the funding feasibility stage of the project. The new Library Director will be an integral part of this project.
 
This position reports to the City Manager and leads a department of thirteen employees. The Library circulates over 350,000 items annually, including books, eBooks, CDs, DVDs, and magazines. This position will collaborate with community groups and organizations to support Library initiatives and serve as a member of the City’s Leadership Team. The Library Director will participate in the City's strategic planning efforts and assist with City-wide policy and management issues.
 
Minimum qualifications include:
Ø Master's degree in Library and Information Science
Ø Five years of increasingly responsible professional experience, including at least three years of supervisory experience
Ø State of Washington Librarian Certificate
Ø Valid Washington state driver's license
 
Preferred qualifications include:
Ø Bilingual in English and Spanish
 
Compensation and Benefits:
The salary range for this position is $102,886 - $125,174 and is dependent upon qualifications. The City of Walla Walla offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, vision, and dental health insurance. City paid $50,000 Life/Accidental Death & Dismemberment insurance plus voluntary Life and Long-Term Disability. Washington State Public Employees Retirement Program (PERS) II/III. City match up to 3% of base salary for deferred compensation (457(b)). Generous vacation leave, sick leave, and ten (10) paid holidays plus 40 hours floating holidays annually.
