The Forest Service is hiring students and recent graduates. Jobs are available in a variety of exciting and rewarding occupations such as rangeland management, botany, ecology, geology and more.

The following positions will be open on USAJOBS from January 24th to February 21st 2024.

  • Interns:
    • Range Interns: GS-0499-03/04/05/07 with promotion potential to GS-09
      • GS-03/04 for current undergraduate or GS-05/07 for graduate students. The student interns may work in and be converted to a Range Management Specialist occupation.

 

  • Recent Graduates/Merit:
    • Rangeland Management Specialists:GS-0454-GS-05/07 with promotion potential to GS-09
    • Rangeland Management Specialist: GS-0454-GS-07/09 with promotion potential to GS-11. 
    • Rangeland Mgr. Dev. Program (18-month program): GS-0401-07. Full Performance Level: GS-0454-09.
      • Candidates must sign an agreement to take 18 semester hours in Range Management, which may be at their own expense, during the 18-month program. For questions, contact Gilbert Jackson at gilbert.jackson@usda.gov.
    • Soil Scientist: GS-0470-07/09 with promotion potential to GS-11.
    • Botanist: GS-0430-07/09 with promotion potential to GS-11
    • Ecologist: GS-0408-GS-05/07 with promotion potential to GS-09
    • Hydrologist: GS-1315-GS-05/07 with promotion potential to GS-09
    • Geologist: GS-1350-05/07 with promotion potential to GS-09
    • Archeologist: GS-0193-07 with promotion potential to GS-09

 

  • DEMO:
    • Range Technician: GS-0455-04/05/06 with promotion potential to GS-07.

The Forest Service will be attending the Society of Range Management conference occurring January 28th to February 1st. You do not need to attend the conference to apply.
