WORK STUDY - Marketing & Copywriting Intern Career Services

The Marketing & Copywriting Intern will assist our marketing team in crafting persuasive and creative content to promote Career Services initiatives and events. The role requires someone who is passionate about writing, driven to improve and develop their copywriting skills, and has a keen eye for detail. This internship is an excellent opportunity to enhance your portfolio and gain hands-on experience in the field of marketing.

Qualification

  • Understanding of AP style writing
  • Working knowledge of public relations and communications writing
  • Strong communication and public speaking skills
  • Organized and proactive in keeping resources/promotions areas current
  • Understanding of copyright law and ability to follow University publication policies and branding guidelines
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
  • Interest in or knowledge of marketing, advertising and public relations
  • Work Study eligibility required
  • First consideration will be given to applicants who apply before 5:00 PM, Friday, August 29th, 2025.
  • Preferred class standing Sophomore, Junior or Senior
  • Preferred minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8

Development 

  • Cross train in other focus areas such as administration, career advising and employer relations
  • Receive marketing related certifications through Sprout Social, HubSpot and Handshake

Responsibilities

  • Minimum of two-semester commitment
  • Write and refine production-ready stories for print and digital pieces, ensuring quality from beginning to end of a project’s lifecycle
  • Collaborate with Communications Strategist to identify potential student and alumni career stories that inspire others
  • Assist with marketing and logistics for special events (i.e. career fairs, etiquette dinner, etc.)
  • Available to work minimum of 8-10 hours/week in fall and spring, in conjunction with Idaho’s academic calendar (excluding University Holidays)
  • Provide customer service to front desk as needed
  • Participate in intern meetings and other programming such as Career Services Career Development Certificate
  • Prepare professional portfolio for use in future interviews during course of internship
  • Produce copy for bi-monthly newsletter and email marketing through Handshake
