Career Event Planning Co-op (On-Campus) 2025-2026
Career Services is seeking a current student interested in all aspects of event planning for an Event Planner Co-op. This is a 10-15 hours/week on-campus position for the upcoming 25-26 school year.
The Event Planner Co-op is a key contributor to the success of Career Services’ signature and supported events, ranging from employer meetups on-campus to large-scale career fairs. This position will provide vital support to our Assistant Director for Employer Relations: Events and Operations, our Marketing Specialist, our Co-op Director, and campus partners for college networking nights.

Job Description:
As a Career Services Event Planner, you will support the Employer Relations & Events team in the development, implementation, and promotion of signature Career Services events, including but not limited to: fall and spring Career and Graduate School Fairs, On-Campus and Summer/Seasonal Job Fairs, Etiquette Dinner, Co-op Showcases, National Career Development Week, Boise Entrepreneur Week, Spokane FUSE Career Fair, and College Networking Nights. You will learn the essential functions of event planning and execution by assisting in a wide range of activities, from administrative support, marketing/advertising, budgeting, to on-site event management.
This position will also support the Career Services Marketing Team in the advertisement and promotion of Career Services events via tabling, along with print and digital campaigns for a variety of events throughout the year.
Key Co-op Responsibilities:
Event Planning and Management
- Assist Career Services pro staff in planning and organizing all office signature events
- Participate in Career Services team meetings and site visits.
- Aid in gathering expenses data for tracking purposes.
- Support the team in handling campus and employer client queries.
- Take lead role in planning and executing the Co-op Showcases (fall and spring).
Event Execution:
- Provide on-site support during events, which may include setting up and tear down, registering/check-in, coordinating vendors, managing schedules, and supporting the Assistant Director for Employer Relations Events and Operations.
- Assist with ensuring events run smoothly and according to the agenda.
- Help manage any issues that arise during the event in a professional manner.
Marketing and Communications:
- Contribute to the development and dissemination of event marketing materials.
- Assist in social media management and content creation for events.
- Help in sending out invitations and managing RSVP lists.
- Help manage Event postings in Handshake.
- Support the Marketing Team on the advertisement of employer info-sessions and meet ups
Post-Event Analysis:
- Participate in debrief meetings post-event.
- Help in gathering feedback from clients and attendees.
- Assist in preparing reports on event success metrics.
Essentia Skills & Experiences Needed:
- Current enrollment in as an undergraduate or graduate student at the University of Idaho
- This co-op is open to all majors, but preference may be given to students in relevant degree programs (Event Management, Public Relations, Hospitality, Marketing, Business Administration, Advertising, Organizational Sciences).
- Enroll in the University of Idaho Co-op Program.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and work under pressure, both independently and within interdisciplinary teams and diverse stakeholders.
- A proactive and enthusiastic approach to work.
Preferred Skills:
- A sincere interest in event planning and management.
- Previous experience, volunteering, or internships in event planning, hospitality, or related fields.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience with social media (LinkedIn, Instagram)
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by event schedules.
