About the Role – IT Systems Support 1

Pay Range: $24.00 – $26.50/hour
Location: Helena, MT
Schedule: Full-time, with occasional on-call or after-hours work

As a key member of our technical support team, you’ll install and maintain computer hardware/software, help users troubleshoot tech issues, and support DOJ networks statewide. This position is a great fit for someone who enjoys solving problems, working hands-on with technology, and being part of a purpose-driven team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, and peripherals (printers, scanners, etc.)
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for software and hardware issues
  • Support users across DOJ’s local and wide area networks
  • Train users and respond to IT support requests
  • Drive a state vehicle to install or service equipment (lifting up to 25 lbs required)

What You Bring

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in IT or a related field
  • 1–3 years of experience supporting networked computer systems
    (Or equivalent education, certifications, or hands-on experience)

Preferred Experience:

  • Microsoft Windows (current and past versions)
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Microsoft Active Directory
  • Common peripheral devices (printers, scanners, MFPs)
  • Diagnostic tools (MS Sys-internals, antivirus/malware software)
  • LAN, WAN, WWAN knowledge
  • Microsoft System Center
  • Mobile devices (smartphones, tablets)

Physical & Scheduling Requirements

  • Work at a computer for extended periods (8+ hours/day)
  • Occasionally work more than 40 hours/week or be on-call for system upgrades
  • Lift and install hardware (up to 25 lbs.)
  • Use phone and remote support tools to assist users

Special Information:

  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Valid driver’s license required (with fewer than 12 conviction points in the last 36 months)
