Amity is a leading English conversation educator for children in Japan. Amity has been providing international teaching opportunities for more than four decades at 96 branch schools throughout Japan. Amity is seeking enthusiastic and motivated professionals who enjoy working with children. 

Successful candidates must have a native English fluency, have the ability to work with a wide range of ages (student ages range from six months to 18 years old), possess good communication skills, be approachable, and be open-minded to cultural differences. The candidate must also be creative and have a willingness to learn Amity's teaching methods in addition to improving their own teaching skills. Japanese language ability, as well as teaching and/or business experience is helpful, but not necessary. Candidates must have or be set to complete a BA/BS degree (all majors considered) and have completed all of their elementary and secondary education primarily in English. 

Amity offers a competitive minimum salary of 275,000 Yen per month to first year teachers, visa sponsorship, subsidized housing, subsidized corporate health insurance, and more. Teachers are also eligible for monthly bonuses which are dependent on student numbers and class load, as well as a contract completion bonus.

If you would like to stay in Japan long-term, there are a number of future opportunities. Successful teachers have leadership opportunities such as our Area Assistants, experienced teachers who help guide the other teachers at nearby schools.  For teachers who enjoy traveling, the Emergency Teacher position allows teachers to travel arounds the country substitute teaching.  Additionally, there are a number of career growth opportunities beyond teaching, such as teacher training, curriculum development, and recruiting.

Requirements Overview:

• English: Native level
• Desire and ability to work with young children (ages range from six months to 18 years old, but are predominantly elementary school age and below)
• BA/BS Degree from a university where English is the primary language; all majors accepted; Seniors are welcome to apply in their final semester
• Completion of elementary, secondary, and university education primarily in English only
• Ability to work a full-time 40-hour workweek from Tuesday to Saturday
• Ability to work 10AM-7PM, 11AM-8PM or 12PM-9PM as decided by the branch school manager
• Visa sponsorship available

We are currently looking for qualified teachers throughout the islands of Honshu and Kyushu (see website for full listing of our school locations). The recruitment of teachers continues throughout the year for all schools with new teacher training sessions usually being held once a month.  

Please note that the visa process takes about three months, and a degree or final transcripts are required to begin the process.
