Reclamation has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisory approval.

The career ladder promotion potential of this position is the GS-12 level. However, this position may be filled at a lower grade. If so, when and if it is determined that a subsequent promotion is warranted, it may be made without further competition. Promotion up to and including the GS-12 level is neither guaranteed nor automatic.

Promotion to the GS-12 level requires a Professional Engineering certification from one of the 50 states or the District of Columbia.

Responsibilities

Solves atypical and/or highly difficult technical problems encountered related to civil construction; troubleshoots design problems for the construction and rehabilitation of assigned projects.

Evaluates a wide range of changes in the design and construction of assigned projects consisting of heavy construction; earthwork and concrete; with related mechanical and/or electrical and/or electronic components.

Meets with contractor representatives to review and clarify contract requirements, give advice on special and unique construction requirements, and review and monitor work schedules, and ensures compliance with contract specification.

Inspect the construction of assigned projects.

Prepares technical reports concerning contractor wok progress, difficulties encountered, and prepares necessary sketches or data.
