Description
The Assistant Program Manager manages and coordinates the daily operations of the Community Programs course schedule, instructor assignments, and classroom assignments. Responsibilities include administration and management of activities involved in accomplishing the goals and objectives of the program. This position provides program advising to current and prospective students.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL DUTIES

• Interview and recruit instructors, participate in instructor class observations and prepare written summaries for instructors regarding their performance and recommendations
• In conjunction with the Program Manager, recruit advisory board members and conduct advisory board meetings
• Partner with the marketing team to increase visibility of portfolio and plan quarterly open house events. Serve as a program representative at all informational and Open House events.
• Prepare quarterly schedule of classes, certificate program brochures and other marketing materials for the Community Programs
• Interact with other departments to ensure that standardized and acceptable room scheduling practices are followed to maximize revenue and benefit customers.
• Provide support to instructors regarding class schedule, filling teaching assignments, resolving room booking issues, etc.
• Provide information and advice to students, staff, other departments and/or the public regarding policies, programs and activities
• Coordinate training plans for funded students in partnership with funding source advisors and Bellevue College Continuing Education registration team
• Be familiar with BC policies, rules and regulations and exercise independent judgment in interpreting and applying them
• Attention to quality of work standards, including an adherence to accepted processes and procedures, attention to detail and accuracy
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS/CORE COMPETENCIES

• Associate's degree from an accredited institution. Any combination of relevant education and/or experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis 
• Two years of administrative work experience in a fast-paced office environment
• Experience advising students 
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Experience supervising and training assigned instructors including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments
• Experience working in a collaborative environment with diverse employees and customer/client groups

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
• One or more years of experience working in a community college or higher education setting
• Supervisory experience with a role of increasing responsibility and authority
• One or more years' experience with a web-based registration system and student management system
