Research Scientist III

Position Purpose: Develop and establish new technologies to support the cutting-edge research and development program of the company with the guidance and support from the Research and Development Director.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identification and development of new advanced technologies with help of molecular techniques that are applicable in the area of animal production. 
  • Develop new methods to make continuous improvements in the production systems.
  • Design experiments on the proposed research projects in the areas of IVF, cloning and genomics.
  • Analyzing experimental data collected in the laboratory, prepare short reports for weekly departmental meetings.  
  • Effectively collaborating with other departments within the company to get appropriate support to complete the research projects. 
  • Co-ordination of project activities and project updates on weekly basis to the department Director.
  • Write standard operating procedures, project reports and maintain experimental records and laboratory note books.
  • Come up with new research project ideas that are directly relevant to the R & D priority areas identified by the management and propose to the department director in a short 1-3-page proposal.
  • Ensure compliance with guidelines set up by the safety committee in the R & D laboratory.
  • Maintains a professional image reflective of Trans Ova’s industry position.
  • Follows Trans Ova’s policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education Requirements:
MS and/or Ph. D degree in animal reproduction or related field with strong background in the following areas:
  • Artificial reproduction technologies (Ovum pick-up related activities, IVF, somatic cell nuclear transfer, etc.,) in livestock species, preferably in bovine and porcine.
  • Application of recent molecular techniques in livestock production.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:    
Ability to sit for long periods of time behind a microscope in a sterile lab setting. Ability to work under a laminar flow hood.
Some travel is required.

Other skills/experience:
At least 2-3 years’ experience in all of the R & D work at TOG or previous similar industry experience required.
Experience in Bovine IVF and micromanipulation is preferred.
Experience in derivation of stem cells and differentiation is preferred
High level of detail orientation
Excellent hand to eye coordination
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
