Tongass School of Arts and Sciences in Ketchikan, Alaska seeks a Full Time Music Teacher
Tongass School of Arts and Sciences is a public elementary school in Ketchikan, Alaska with approximately 180 Kindergarten through 6th grade students and 35 staff members. The school is seeking a full-time certified music teacher to help our students experience the joy of music in their lives. Our program offerings include choral music, music and movement, ORFF, and beginning band instruction.
Duties of the successful candidate will include whole-class music instruction as well as working in partnership with classroom teachers to support music integration within other subject areas. This includes providing experiences in musical reader's theater and songwriting as methods that enhance learning. Ketchikan is a small town on the southeastern tip of Alaska with a diverse culture, temperate climate, numerous outdoor activities, and strong and lively music and arts community.
Annual Salary: $49,518.00+ depending on experience
