Exhibit Coordinator / Instructor

Lewis-Clark State College invites applications for the position of Exhibit Coordinator / Instructor (non-tenure track faculty)
Salary and rank based on experience and qualifications: $44,000

Required Qualifications:
  • MFA
  • Minimum one-year classroom / teaching experience
  • Minimum one-year demonstrated experience in exhibit development, design and installation
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Three to five years in exhibit development, design and installation.
  • Experience teaching 'Survey of Art History' as well as specific mediums, such as watercolor or design.
  • Strong communication skills; documented experience in project development, planning and execution of events; demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, team environment; demonstrated ability to manage contracts, timelines, budgets, program evaluations and reports; sufficient knowledge of art and history - and the impacts they have on our community and culture; basic computer skills; ability to work evening events and Saturday gallery hours on a regular basis.
Responsibilities:
Exhibit Coordinator Responsibilities:
In response to Center planning and institutional goals, develop relationships with artists, artist groups and other humanities-based museums and organizations to plan, develop and execute 8 10 exhibits throughout each academic year. Plan the design, layout, cost estimates, and construction of exhibits and displays. Negotiate agreements with artists, exhibit owners and program presenters according to institutional policies and timelines. Collaborate with AA1 and Financial Technician to ensure information is complete to process all pertinent contract paperwork. Ensure exhibits are developed and installed in a timely manner. Ensure gallery hours are covered by staff and /or trained volunteers, including Saturdays and exhibit openings. Maintain organized storage and inventory of exhibit development materials, tools and supplies. In collaboration with the Director and Program Coordinator, assist in development of programming and community education workshops to coincide with exhibit season. Provide leadership in the conservation of the permanent Beuk Aie Temple exhibit and historic artifacts as well as development of temporary exhibits in relation to the permanent exhibit.

Instructor responsibilities:
Teach nine (9) credits per year. Recruit and supervise gallery interns. Regularly attend Division and program meetings. Service assignments in consultation with Chair of Humanities.
