Training Specialist - Stockton/Modesto, CA

The Training Specialist is responsible for supporting adult volunteers and girl members by designing and delivering high quality training resources to assist with the effective delivery of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience in the Stockton and Modesto, California Council areas.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
·        Deliver quality learning opportunities through multiple channels (including the Volunteer Tool Kit and gsLearn online learning platform).
·        Schedule trainings for volunteers and older girls, based on regional needs and requests.
·        Manage training resources including but not limited to training site reservations, training equipment maintenance and preparation, and communication with participants and trainers
·        Work collaboratively with Training, other staff teams, and volunteers to design learning opportunities for volunteers and girls
·        Develop and cultivate relationships with training department volunteers
·        Improve volunteer and girl retention and satisfaction ratings through regular review of training evaluations and other survey data, and interactions with girls and volunteers
·        Find ways to build capacity to reach/facilitate more learning opportunities
·        Participate in special projects and council-wide teams as needed
 

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
·        Bachelor’s Degree in a related field; youth development, education, volunteer management
·        At least 2+ year of experience in a related field
·        Strong facilitation, instruction and training skills
·        Ability to design effective and engaging curriculum
·        Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and a customer relationship management system such as Salesforce. Comfortable learning and using new software systems
·        Previous experience with an online learning platform preferred (e.g. Litmos, Moodle, etc)
·        Maintain certification in First Aid & CPR
·        Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills preferred
·        2+ years Girl Scout volunteer experience preferred
·        Must have a high level of interpersonal and customer service skills
·        Strong verbal and written communication skills
·        Demonstrate a commitment to recognize and respect the many forms of diversity
·        Demonstrate a willingness to embrace the Girl Scouts mission, goals, values and council-driven programs
·        Valid California driver’s license, a clean driving record, and proof of insurance
·        Available for council-required events (Annual Meeting, Girl Scout Gold and Silver Award Ceremony, and more)
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
·  Able to lift and carry 50 pounds.

WORK HOUR/TRAVEL
·  Willingness to work a flexible schedule and travel as required
·  Full-time
·  Hours covered 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (between team)
·  Evenings and weekends required, approximately two weekends a month and several evenings each week
·  Approximately 30% travel
