The Idaho State Department of Agriculture is currently recruiting for an IT Operations and Support Analyst I in the Administration Division.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, set up, and maintain ISDA computer hardware and software products.
  • Configure and monitor personal computers and network equipment so they meet ISDA standards.
  • Install client applications using in-house and purchased software and utilities.
  • Install infrastructure equipment including cabling plants, communication backbone equipment, peripheral, and telecommunication hardware and software.
  • Identify, evaluate, and correct hardware, software, and operations problems.
  • Perform LAN, WAN, and telecommunication administration functions. Including updating and maintaining the Exchange email service and Active Directory.
  • Provide smartphone and tablet support to enable remote users to access the ISDA network and its resources. Assign users to RSA keys and support them.
  • Stay informed about the latest changes in information systems hardware and software in order to provide recommendations to customers on the best purchasing options. Stay up with technology and current trends through self-study and outside training.
  • Provide computer related training to local and field staff as requested.
  • Document support procedures.
  • As part of a team, prioritize and perform service requests and incident resolution activities from a queue of identified work.
  • Perform technical tasks and projects as assigned.
  • Carry out the responsibilities of an employee outlined in the Department's Risk Management/Safety Policy.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:These qualifications are mandatory requirements.
  • Good knowledge of:
  • Computer trends, software, capabilities, and terminology;
  • Computer hardware and software installation, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience:
  • Installing, upgrading, and maintaining one or more computer networks including computers, server hardware and software;
  • Working with network protocols such as IP address schemas, DNS, DHCP, and directory services; 
  • Evaluating and resolving computer, system, and user problems including application operations, hardware malfunctions, and telecommunications problems;
  • Independently evaluating and defining customer/system needs and recommending and implementing new IT solutions;
  • Recommending the installation and use of applications and system software.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:Temporary appointments from this announcement, serving at least one thousand forty (1,040) hours of continuous service, may be hired as an entrance probationary employee without further examination for the same classification and location as announced.
