Program Coordinator (Limited Duration)

***TWO LIMITED DURATION PROGRAM COORDINATOR POSITIONS AVAILABLE***
 
The City of Eugene is recruiting for two high level paraprofessionals to serve as Program Coordinators for the Human Resources and Risk Services areas. These positions will perform a variety of advanced paraprofessional, administrative, and technical duties. Each position will have a different focus which is described below. General skills and duties are described in the Examples of Duties Performed section.
 
It is anticipated that Position 1 will focus on administration of employee benefits, the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Oregon Family Leave Act (OFLA) and other complex, protected leaves; while Position 2 will focus on administration of employee data and its compliance with administrative policies and union contracts.

The Limited Duration positions are projected to last 6-12 months with the possibility for extension. Human Resources and Risk Services areas are in the process of uniting to form a single division. This exciting change for our organization may provide additional opportunities to gain knowledge in other areas related to employee support, recruitment, wellbeing, and Total Worker Health®.

  • Candidates interested in Position 1 will have specific paraprofessional and technical knowledge as related to protected leaves and benefits administration, including applicable Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and rules
  • Candidates interested in Position 2 will have the ability to gain a technical understanding of how the information in the system impacts benefits and pay provided to an employee in compliance with union contracts, administrative policies, or laws; and how the different components of the employee information system impact each other.

Education
High school diploma or GED equivalent. Associate, Bachelor or equivalent two-year degree with additional coursework directly related to benefits, human resources, business administration or a related field is desirable.
Experience
Four years of recent administrative or technical support experience and current advanced computer experience, including two years of experience in employee benefits, human resources information systems, or closely related experience, providing excellent customer service, and working in an environment with access to confidential/ sensitive information.
License or Certificate
Valid Oregon driver's license, or ability to obtain by date of hire; must pass driving records check and, if hired, maintain a driving record that meets the City's standard. Oregon law requires that an out-of-state license holder must obtain a valid Oregon license (with appropriate endorsements) within 30 days of becoming domiciled in the state (ORS 803.355).
Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
