Elementary Special Education Teacher

Job Description:
Full-time special education teacher in a K-6 Elementary building. This teacher will be responsible
for collaborating with peer teachers and working with students within their general education
classrooms, in small groups, and in a homeroom type setting.

Qualifications:
Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate for grades K-12, with a major endorsement in Special Education

Performance Requirements:
● Possess a strong belief that all students can and will be successful
● Possess a strong knowledge of effective ways to help students achieve their goals
● Ability to plan and deliver effective, engaging, and rigorous lessons
● Ability to use data to plan and adjust instruction
● Willing to differentiate instruction
● Possess knowledge of Special Education law, documentation/paperwork, and
evaluation/assessment strategies
● Ability to work with colleagues and parents to improve student outcomes
● Willing to accept responsibility for student learning
● Ability to interact positively and motivate students
● Demonstrate exceptional classroom management skills to achieve a respectful and
cooperative learning atmosphere in the classroom
● Exhibit strength in working collaboratively with teachers, staff, instructional coach, and
administration
● Excellent computer skills, written and verbal communication skills, and presentation skills

Terms of Employment:
Full-time position
$34,599 to $54,995 annual salary, depending on education and experience
Daily hours will be 7:41am – 3:30pm
