The incumbent serves as Computer Scientist in the Department of the Treasury, Departmental Offices, Assistant Secretary for Financial Markets, Office of Public Finance, Office of Federal Program Finance, Federal Financing Bank (FFB) and is recognized as a Technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining the FFB’s Loan Management Control System (LMCS).
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-14. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
- Develop functional computer applications frequently using financial mathematics. This includes systems design and development to translate sophisticated mathematical logic into fully functional computer applications.
- Apply advanced financial and mathematical concepts to develop, refine, and implement software programs that support the daily business operations of the FFB.
- Design highly complex and customized systems and subsystems for solving problems by the use of computer technology.
- Identify problems and formulates methods or procedures for solutions by using the techniques of computer science and finance.
