Mid-Level Software Engineer

The Position:  We are in search of candidates who have software/software development technical skills relevant to the DoD/military environment. Ideal candidates will have demonstrated the interdisciplinary breadth needed to integrate concepts from other fields to support the development of small-scale cyber training ranges that integrate Commercial Off-the-Shelf COTS components. Additionally, ideal candidates will have the experience or ability to learn the development of Cyber physical exploitations against embedded systems made up of hardware and software components for the purposes of training. The candidate will work with leaders, engineers and cybersecurity educators to support hands on training of DoD acquisition professionals at all levels and in all disciplines.

The Description: 
·        Sound knowledge of software engineering in embedded and enterprise domains
·        Hands-on experience developing software for a wide range of applications to include embedded systems, networks and networking, avionics systems, etc.
·        Background in engineering, computer science, aircraft systems, ship system, cyber and related technologies is desirable
·        Good communication and presentation skills at all levels (worker to leader)
·        Good understanding of decision making/recommendations based on cost-benefit-trades that include both technical and non-technical drivers
·        Experience in or willingness to learn the development of cyber exploitations of embedded systems and components, network-based enterprise systems and SCADA/IC systems for the purposes of training
·        An exceptional individual interested in working collaboratively on challenging problems of importance to our nation’s defense

The successful candidate will have the minimum education and experience below:
·        B.S. in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or similar quantitative focused degree
·        5 to 10 years of experience
·        Eligible to receive a DoD Secret clearance
 
Preferred qualifications: 
·        Experience with aircraft system design and development, applied cyber security from an embedded and enterprise system perspective
·        Experience across the software lifecycle, including architecture definition, design, implementation, integration and test of complex systems – in a DoD acquisition environment
·        Experience with aircraft systems, avionics, embedded real-time systems and software
·        Experience with cybersecurity tools and techniques and reverse engineering tools and techniques
·        Experience with malware development (ethical hacking) and reverse engineering of similar software components and systems
·        Top Secret clearance eligible
 
The Working Environment:  The physical environment requires the employee to work in AM Pierce offices in California Maryland sitting in a cubicle or at a desk, looking at a computer for the majority of the workday. The employee may be required to walk short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site. In some occasions, the employee may be required to drive to offices or buildings near the work site. Occasional travel may be required.
