Software Engineer II or III
Deseret Digital Media (DDM) is seeking a strong mid to senior level Software Engineer to join our KSL.com Jobs technology team to collaboratively build scalable applications with high traffic, feature rich and great UX requirements.
Software Engineers on this team are tasked with solving problems and building solutions involving one of the Classified sections of the KSL.com website and mobile app. They will work on a scrum team with a product owner, scrum master, QA and other engineers to prioritize and build the features. They will regularly check the performance of their applications in production and improve them.
You are an ideal candidate if:
- 2 or more years of current experience with software development technologies and tools including:
- HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, MySQL, Linux, Apache, etc.
- CS or IT Bachelor's or Master's degree a plus, but not required
- Integrating with third-party APIs to pull data or manage workflows
- Experience designing, developing, and operating highly performance applications
- Strong understanding of relational and non-relational databases
- Strong understanding of technologies used to render websites: HTML/CSS/JavaScript
- Ready to take on full ownership of the development lifecycle by designing, building, and operating applications
- Comfortable communicating with product owners, analysts, and other engineers to solve open-ended problems
- Driven by results at the product, team, and individual levels
- Desire to experiment and use data to drive decision-making
- Excited to learn and collaborate with others.
In this role you'll need a willingness to learn (or bonus if you already have experience with):
- Simple use of front-end technologies like React.js to make simplistic user interfaces
- Experience working with PHP frameworks such as Zend and/or Symfony
- Using database and search technologies such as MongoDB, Solr or Elasticsearch
- Using mobile technologies such as iOS, Android, React Native
- Experience working with Agile/Scrum methodology and use of issue tracking (Pivotal Tracker or similar) and source repository (git or similar) technologies
- Writing unit and integration tests to help maintain a high degree of confidence
- Experience optimizing and working with high traffic web sites using caching and scalability technologies
