Business Analytics Strategy and Analytics Internship

Position Overview
The primary role of this position is to accelerate the growth of a self-service strategy for the Business Analytics department. This position will be responsible for growing the department’s offerings of descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics across multiple departments on the business side of the organization. In addition, this position will assist in examining and developing strategies that promote data driven decision making. A qualified candidate will have the keen ability to prioritize tasks and exercise problem solving aptitude in a dynamic fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Business Analytics team with a variety of analytical projects that span the landscape of the organization.
  • Perform range of ad-hoc reporting and in-depth analyses in support of key business initiatives.
  • Develop, test, and support a variety of predictive models that supplement business decisions.
  • Research emerging statistical methods, algorithms, and tools relevant to the business operations and recommend/implement them where applicable
  • Assist in expanding the in-memory Enterprise Data Warehouse platform to facilitate a multitude of analytical views that span the landscape of business systems.
  • Create presentations summarizing key findings and recommendations for managers and department heads.
  • Automate business processes throughout the organization.
  • Focus on machine learning algorithms and how they can be applied to our most common data sets.
  • Provide a fresh, unique look at current business practices and identify potential areas of growth.
  • Improve the efficiency of the department.
  • Create new data-driven initiatives.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Business Analytics or a related field. Advanced Degree preferred.
  • Proficiency in data modeling using tools such as R and/or Python.
  • Experience with relational database development including SAP HANA, Amazon RDS, Microsoft SQL Server and/or Oracle in addition to proficient knowledge in SQL Programming, SSIS, and Visual Studio.
  • Familiarity with Windows, Windows Server, Linux, and Microsoft Office. Experience with Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure is a plus.
  • Ability to obtain, organize, cleanse, view, and explain data from a multitude of sources.
  • Excellent written, oral communication, and presentation skills.
  • Strong ability to work well with co-workers in a team environment including the group’s data engineers and interface with other departments throughout the organization.
  • Ability to mentor and teach other staff members.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrate ability to exercise sound analytical decision-making skills. \
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability - a self-starter.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours to include holidays, weekends, and evenings as needed.
