IT Operations & Support Senior Technician - Coeur D'Alene, ID

THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN COEUR D'ALENE, ID

This is a career-level position. Incumbents have an in-depth understanding of PC hardware, peripherals, devices, and software applications to independently install, maintain, and trouble-shoot PC hardware/software and resolve the majority of user and system problems. The duties require occasional travel to provide support for ISP offices statewide. There are rare occasions where after-hour work may be required to satisfy project implementation and setup. Incumbents will work well with other IT Professionals as well as offer suggestions for alternative solutions or new technology ideas that might better enhance the security and technology within the agency.

To be hired, you must pass an extensive background investigation which will include work history, criminal history, reference checks, FBI fingerprint clearance, and a polygraph exam. Please see the IDAHO STATE POLICE DRUG POLICY listed at the end of this announcement.

Example of Duties
  • Provides a wide range of technical assistance to system users;
  • Installs software, hardware, and cables, including non-standard configurations; manages most day-to-day aspects of networks and server performance.
  • May work as part of a team or work independently on small projects with supervision;
  • Provides a wide range of technical assistance to system users;
  • Resolves diverse problems and queries received from users or the help desk requiring troubleshooting for solutions;
  • Supports testing and documentation activities.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Good knowledge of computer trends, software, capabilities, and terminology;
  • Good knowledge of computer hardware and software installation and troubleshooting; 
  • Experience working with network systems, evaluating and resolving computer, system, and user problems including compatibility conflicts, application operations, hardware malfunctions, and telecommunications problems;
  • Experience installing and maintaining computer hardware, software, and peripherals in the network and/or multi-platform environment; 
  • Experience providing one-to-one IT training
