Crime Prevention Coordinator

General Duty Statement

Performs intermediate-level professional work in planning, organizing, and implementing a community-based, crime-prevention program. Organizes and develops civic partnerships between the community and the department. Provides technical support, education, training, and research resources to support community groups. Serves as a liaison between the department and community groups. Conducts research, analyzes data, and prepares reports relating to crime prevention for the department and community organizations. Disseminates information about crime prevention programs and resources. Performs other related duties as required.

Requirements

A Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Sociology, Political Science, or a related field and two (2) years of full-time experience in any one of the following:
  • Planning, organizing, and implementing a community-based, crime-prevention program in a law enforcement, related agency, or equivalent.
  • Planning, organizing, and implementing a human services agency program or equivalent.
  • Working as a community organizer in a formally-established program.

Additional related experience may be substituted year-for-year for the Bachelor's Degree and additional related education may be substituted for up to fifty percent of the required experience.

Must possess and maintain a valid Minnesota Class D Driver's License, or equivalent out-of-state driver's license.

Qualifications Rating: The Qualifications Rating is an assessment of your completed application and answers to Supplemental Questionnaire. Be as specific and detailed as possible in completing your application and questionnaire. You must submit your completed application and supplemental questionnaire by the application deadline.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

Open Job Posting: This posting is open to anyone who meets the position requirements.

Eligible Lists: Eligible lists typically are created from a pass/fail assessment. Those who pass the assessment will be placed on an eligible list for approximately one year. Hiring Managers may interview/hire anyone from the list.

Final Selection Process: A Hiring Manager will consider applicants placed on the list of eligible candidates. You will be notified if you are invited to participate in the final selection process which may include an interview, job simulation, work sample submission, or other evaluation method. Candidates will be required to demonstrate that they can fluently read, speak, and write the language they indicated proficiency in.

Condition of Employment: This position will require a drivers license check and a Saint Paul Police Department background check which may include criminal history and employment history as a condition of employment. Candidates will be required to submit proof of education to Human Resources upon conditional job offer.
