Correctional Case Manager

The Mission of the Idaho Department of Correction is to protect the public, our staff, and those within our custody and supervision through safety, accountability, partnership and providing opportunities for offender change.

Please note changes have been made to this exam to include the standards required for the Department's compliance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) of 2003. You must complete both exams attached to this announcement to be considered for this position.

The Idaho Department of Correction (IDOC) has an opening for a Correctional Case Manager at the North Idaho Correctional Institution in Cottonwood, Idaho. This position will manage correctional substance abuse and rehabilitative programs involving assessment, diagnostic, and/or social services of offenders, also this position is expected to work non-standard hours including weekends. 

If you have previously applied for the position of Correctional Case Manager you must reapply under this announcement. Previous scores will not be used.  Hiring lists may be created from open competitive, IDOC Department Promotional, or Statewide promotional applicants. The applications may also be used for future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Good knowledge of: human service principles and practices to include behavioral management methods, rehabilitation and treatment programs, personality traits associated with criminal offenders, social and family systems, cognitive behavioral education and case management methods.
  • Computer proficiency for data entry, electronic mail, composing reports and letters and retrieving documents.
  • Willing to work non-traditional hours in a correctional facility providing program facilitation and case management services to offenders (non-traditional hours may include evenings and/or weekends).
 
SPECIALTY REQUIREMENTS:
  • Experience networking with the community to coordinate resources such as treatment programs, housing and employment.
  • Experience with program delivery and group facilitation in a treatment setting

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience using American Sign Language (ASL)

HIRING INFORMATION: 
To be hired, candidates will have a history and background supportive of department mission goals and will be subject to:
  • Completing a Background Investigation Questionnaire and pre-employment drug testing 
  • Having a federal and state criminal background check to include fingerprints 
  • Having a history of law-abiding behavior 
  • Felonies, misdemeanors, illegal drug usage, DUI's, adverse driving convictions and employment history may make you ineligible for employment

Non-hiring restrictions are in place for candidates who: 
  • Have been convicted of Domestic Violence or similar types of violent behaviors 
  • Have a dishonorable discharge from military service 
  • Currently are using, dealing or are associated with illegal drugs 
  • Have close friends or relatives under IDOC care & custody where the vacancy exists 
  • Are currently under IDOC supervision or probation (must be released from IDOC supervision or probation for at least one year)
