Infant – Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation (IEMHC) Director

Child Care Aware of Washington is a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) organization dedicated to ensuring that every child in Washington has access to high-quality child care and early learning programs. Our network office in Tacoma serves as an information hub for the child care and early learning field, leads and contributes to state and national policy and advocacy efforts and collects, compiles, analyzes and disseminates child care supply and demand data.
Together with our partner agencies across the state, Child Care Aware of Washington provides child care provider training and coaching, and outreach to parents and family, friend and neighbor caregivers. We deliver the means to make a positive difference for all children, including those furthest from opportunity.

The Opportunity

We are now accepting applications for an exciting professional opportunity to be the leader in the development of a system of Infant/Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation (IECMHC) for child care providers in Washington. You will be leading a statewide team working in partnership with coaches, child care providers, mental health professionals and others toward the shared goals of promoting trauma-informed practice, increasing capacity to address challenging behaviors, reducing expulsion from child care/preschool, and promoting the overall social emotional health and well-being of children, families and adults working in early childhood settings.
This position will provide program management and leadership, clinical/reflective supervision/consultation and professional development for MHCs to ensure that children, families, and child care providers receive high quality IECMHC services with fidelity in implementation across regions. This position works in collaboration with the Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families and other local and state leaders to vision, develop and implement Washington’s Infant-Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation services. IECMHC is an intervention which partners mental health professionals with early childhood professionals for the purpose of strengthening the capacity of staff, families, programs and systems to promote optimal social and emotional development, and to prevent, identify and reduce the impact of mental health challenges among children and families.

Qualifications


We are looking for an experienced individual who:
·        Is knowledgeable and has expertise in IECMHC
·        Is self-motivated, directed and can demonstrate strong relationship-building skills, have experience with infrastructure development and hold a high value for diversity and equity
·        Has the ability to establish collaborative partnership with clinicians, community and state partners
·        Is knowledgeable and has expertise in the realm of clinical and reflective supervision
·        Is knowledgeable about infant early childhood mental health screening and diagnosis
(DC:0-5)
·        Is knowledgeable and understanding about trauma-informed care principles and practices
·        Has effective written and verbal communication skills
·        Has demonstrated the ability to work effectively with diverse populations
·        Can make sound independent decisions and exercise good clinical judgment
·        Has flexibility and adaptability as well as the ability to focus attention on workflow procedure, budgetary guidelines and documentation/productivity standards
·        Has the ability to laugh with others and have a sense of humor

Salary & Benefits


$85,000 - $100,000 starting salary depending on experience.
