Laboratory Analytical Specialist

The Portland Water Bureau is looking for an experienced Cryptosporidium analyst (Laboratory Analytical Specialist) to join our Water Quality Laboratory. The Portland Water Bureau is accredited by the Oregon Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (ORELAP) to analyze for Cryptosporidium and Giardia. The primary role of this position is to serve as an analyst for EPA Methods 1623/1623.1 Cryptosporidium and Giardia in order to comply with water monitoring requirements. A successful candidate will be able to qualify as an Analyst within one year of hire and possession of additional years of protozoan analysis experience is strongly desired. Experience analyzing phytoplankton, zooplankton and bacteria is also desired, although not required. This position will report to the Laboratory Manager.
