Jr. System Administrator

Randstad is working with a respected organization that has been around the Twin Cities for 100+ years. They sit on the east side of town a little east of St. Paul, MN.

The client is looking to hire a Jr. Server Administrator as a permanent employee (not a contractor). They are looking for 0-2 years of experience, a team player, someone that either has an education where they learned some of the basic requirements in the job description. For example, if you had a Computer Science degree, you learned how to automate with Powershell in school. The manager is open to an individual like this and can pay roughy 60k with full benefits.

If you have more experience than just your education and have actually worked in a professional setting, the manager can pay up to 75k with full benefits. The range is 60k-75k dependent on your experience.

If you don't have all the skills but you feel like you could learn quickly, they are open to hungry motivated individuals. They hired one of these Jr Level Admins last year and he is the biggest rockstar on the team (he had only a small internship under his belt from a University, now he's doing architecture after a year). They want to find another one of him. You will have about 9 others on your team supporting you and this company has a training program.

The environment is 85% virtualized in Hyper V, and the rest is physical. They have about 800 Windows Servers and roughly 400 Linux/IBM Servers. You'll be responsible for Server OS Administration, Patching, Security, etc. They'll also want you to automate, automate and automate again utilizing PowerShell.Once you continue to grow, they'll have you work with their Public Cloud and do higher level duties.

This is a great opportunity for someone early on in their career looking to work with a great team, awesome manager and a respected company that'll get you up to speed quickly.

If you'd like to learn more, please review the job details below and get back to me ASAP. The hiring manager wants to see resumes as of last week (he doesn't have any) and would interview RIGHT AWAY!

If you are not available, a fit, or interested, please forward this email to your network. Randstad offers up to $500 for placed referrals so maybe you know someone?

PS - they offer tuition reimbursement so if you want more education, it's there for you!

PSS - this client is trying to shrink their Dell footprint and going to a larger Nutanix/Hyper V environment. I know Nutanix is a skill a lot of engineers enjoy and it's in demand.

Environment: Working on a team of 10, very mixed personalities/seniority in the group. Some have 30 years experience, others are 1-2 years out of college. Roughly 1,200 servers, 85% are virtualized (VMware) and 15% physical. 800 servers at Microsoft, the rest are a mix of IBM/Linux and a shrinking Dell footprint.
24/7 on-call rotation: on call about every 6 weeks, and will work roughly 1 Sunday AM/month. For special projects requiring more time over the weekend, they will flex hours during the week to make that up.
