EHR Infrastructure SME

ERPi has an exciting new opportunity for you to join us as an EHR Infrastructure SME in Washington, DC!
 
We are committed to providing superior support to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), assisting in the seamless care for Veterans, including access to a complete electronic health record (EHR) and shared, transparent care pathways with the Department of Defense (DoD) and community providers. Currently the VA is undertaking an enterprise-wide Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) effort through the procurement of the Cerner commercial electronic health record software, and with our help, this modernization will result in a common, single, lifetime health record that both DoD and VA can access, with anticipated improvements in patient care and safety.
 
In this role, you will support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) Program as an EHR Infrastructure SME with the Office of Technical Integration (OTI) infrastructure network engineering to: 
  • Participate and/or lead design and engineering projects for the customer enterprise network involving the extension and application of advanced engineering and networking principles and concepts
  • Design and implement computer and information networks, and perform network modeling, analysis, and planning. In addition, the candidate designs network and computer security measures
  • Research and recommend network and data communications hardware and software
  • Conduct advanced and state-of-the-art assignments such as network design optimization, technical trade studies, specification of equipment configurations, technology assessment, technology insertion planning, capacity planning, and configuration management
  • Work at an enterprise level and in cross-functional teams to assist with the development of strategic and enterprise plans
Responsibilities
Required Skills and Experience:
  • At least 15 years of experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or equivalent discipline, or 23 years of experience without a Bachelor's
  • Ability to create strategies and plans for integration of multiple IT systems/subsystems into an operational unit, ensuring full functional and performance capabilities are retained
  • Able to coordinate with development and user teams to assess risks, goals and needs and ensure that all are adequately addressed
  • Experienced in introducing new hardware or software into a new or existing environment while minimizing disruption and mitigating risks
  • Cost conscience addressing goals
  • Experience in VA or DoD network engineering or management
Desired Skills and Experience:
  • Experience in the VA
  • Experience implementing Electronic Health Records
  • Network certification, i.e. CCNA, CCIE, etc.
