Residential Counselor-Massasoit

Overview

Come join a friendly and diverse team that provides quality care! Community Healthlink (CHL) is looking for a Full-time (37.5 hrs/wk) residential counselor in Worcester.
 
Massasoit Rd is a one floor residential treatment program serving eight adult individuals struggling with persistent mental illness who potentially have co-occurring medical conditions or are mobility-impaired. Massasoit staff also provide outreach to six supported community living residents. The program provides a variety of services where a team of staff implement treatment plans based on the specific needs of persons served. Services include but are not limited to: mental health services, social recreational groups, assisting with activities of daily living such as personal-hygiene and self-care skills, and medication management.
 
Implement programming for residents on a consistent basis in accordance with Residential Division standards policies, and procedures. Facilitate implementation of client treatment plans.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily care and support for residents
  • Advocating for client
  • Monitoring daily activity
  • Assisting with direct care by providing daily care and support for residents
  • Assisting with development of an aftercare plan by writing and implementing treatment plans
  • Ensuring client complies with treatment groups and unit rules
  • Teach daily living skills
  • Provide crisis management services
  • Participate in group activities
  • Working with residents to maintain the residence on a daily basis including chores, grocery shopping/carrying groceries into the kitchen, bedroom upkeep, laundry to include carrying to and from washer/dryer, yard work, and other moderate housekeeping duties.
  • Must be able pass required trainings including Medication Administration Program (MAP), CPR and First Aid within the first 5 months of employment

Qualifications

  • Grade 5: Residential Counselor I: HSD/GED/ HiSet required or Associates degree 
  • Grade 6: Residential Counselor II: Requires a Bachelor’s degree; preferably in the field of psychology or human services
  • Preference will be given to those with experience in social services and/or working with program's population.
  • Current valid US-issued driver's license and ability to provide registered, inspected and insured automobile for work related purposes including driving clients in a personal vehicle or a company vehicle
  • Desire to serve others required.
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic, ability to work independently, and ability to contribute to team objectives required.
