Extension Health Educator

Position Overview
Given recent financial stresses in agricultural markets, MSU Extension developed farm stress management programs to help farmers and those who work with farmers, learn techniques to manage stress and access resources. As part of MSU Extension’s Health and Nutrition Institute, the health educator provides local and statewide educational programming with a community behavioral health focus in mental health/farm stress management. The position shares knowledge on mental health, suicide prevention, and healthy relationships, as a way to promote available resources and to lessen stigma of help-seeking and self-management. This position works closely with the farm stress program lead and farm resource management educators.

In this position, you will collaborate across community groups and work with interdisciplinary teams for meeting needs of agriculture audiences and stakeholders. You will design, implement and evaluate programming based on research and the needs of clientele groups, ensure dissemination of research-based information through various methods, including multi-media, direct education and written articles, and serve as an informational resource for Extension personnel and clientele.
