Middle School Math Teacher

Position Overview:

The Academy is seeking a full-time Middle School Math teacher committed to delivering high level, engaging curriculum so that students gain the conceptual understanding and confidence to be successful not only in the current year but also successfully prepared for the next level.

Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated success in teaching math at the middle school and/or high school level
  • Belief in AoA’s mission and philosophy
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize student achievement while creating a nurturing and encouraging school environment
  • Experience with and interest in working with high needs students
  • Experience teaching math intervention and advanced math classes is a plus
  • Applicants of color strongly encouraged to apply
  • Hold or are working towards Math Single Subject teaching credential
  • NCLB Compliant Required & CLAD Certificated
 
Responsibilities:
  • Teach 5 Math classes or 4 Math classes and a math intervention class, as well as an advisory/tutorial class
  • Engage in professional development
  • Collaborate weekly with grade-level instructional team (during common prep)
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, students, and families
 
Compensation and Benefits: Compensation is competitive and based on experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package and participate in California State Teachers Retirement System (CalSTRS).
