Fulltime Social Worker - Clinical, hospital setting for adults and geriatrics

We seek a fulltime Social Worker
in the inpatient program at
St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, Idaho.

Join our inpatient team of skilled clinical team of psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, registered nurses, case managers, program therapists, psychiatric technicians, and chaplains working together with one goal: to bring hope and to help our patients ages 18 and older who require the support and security of an inpatient setting.
We work in partnership with, the award-winning St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, Idaho. The Behavioral Health Center there is licensed for 20 psychiatric beds and offers hope, rapid stabilization, intensive individualized treatment, and thorough discharge planning.
 
 Job purpose 
  
This position is responsible for assessment, counseling and social services for patients within 
the behavioral healthcare setting. 
Responsibilities 
-Provides assessments, treatments and case management to patients and 
families. 
-Plans and coordinates therapeutic program services on the behavioral health 
unit. 
-Facilitates individual and group therapy sessions with patients to 
establish/review goals and document progress toward goals. 
-Participates in discharge planning, arranges for follow up care and develops 
mechanisms for exchange of appropriate information with sources outside the 
hospital. 
-Completes psychosocial assessments on all new admissions within CMS 
guidelines. 
-Develops the master treatment plan in a timely manner according to program 
policies and documents patient status and response to treatment throughout 
hospitalization. 
-Leads the scheduled treatment team meetings. 
-Acts as the unit liaison including coordination with the assigned individual 
evaluator for involuntary commitments. 
-Acts as the unit representative during any court proceedings related to 
involuntary commitments. 
-Serves as a resource person to healthcare professionals concerning psychosocial 
problems and community resources. 
-Educates patient and families on signs and symptoms of illness to prevent rehospitalization 
and improve disease management skills. 
-Maintains performance improvement activities within the department and 
participates in performance improvement activities as assigned. 
-Performs other duties as assigned or requested. 
  
Qualifications 
-Master’s degree in social work (MSW) required. 
-Current licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Marriage and Family 
Therapist, preferred 
-Two or more years of previous experience in all aspects of social service with an 
emphasis in psychiatric work. 
-Current certification/training in the management of disruptive and assaultive behavior. 
-BLS 
-CPI training will be provided 
-Basic computer knowledge 
-Strong interpersonal skills 
  
Working conditions 
In clinical duties, will be exposed to communicable disease, blood, and body fluids. Exposure to 
injury from patients or equipment. Realizing there are unavoidable environmental hazards, the 
employee must assume responsibility for knowledge of protocols and policies relevant to these 
hazards. Utilized appropriate protective attire that will be provided in each area. 
  
Physical requirements 
Ability to handle heavy materials or patients. Physical demands greater than moderate may 
require knowledge of use of appropriate equipment. Frequent bending, lifting and pulling 
require proper use of good body mechanics. Must be able to communicate effectively with 
patients, staff physicians and visitors displaying a smile and maintaining a pleasant attitude. This 
job includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and 
ability to adjust focus. Also, the ability to communicate by phone is important.
