Job Description

Job Title:                   Teacher
FLSA Status:            Exempt
Reports To:               Building Principal

Summary:

Under direction of the school principal, plan and provide for appropriate learning experiences for students. Provide an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of individuals to ensure success for every student.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
  • Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students, always treating students with dignity and respect.
  • Prepares for classes assigned, and shows written evidence of preparation upon the request of the immediate supervisor. Develops instructional plans for substitute teachers when absent.
  • Establishes and communicates to students clear objectives for all lessons and projects.
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and technologies designed to meet the learning needs of individuals or student groups.
  • Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis, and provides progress reports to parents as needed.
  • Assesses the special learning needs of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of other professionals as necessary.
  • Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
  • Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
  • Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for paraprofessionals.
  • Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Attends staff meetings and serves on committees as required by the building administration.
  • Develops and maintains effective interpersonal relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Observe safety and security procedures; report potentially unsafe conditions.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Technology Skills:
An individual should have knowledge of internet and E-mail software; Student Management software, Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand. The employee is occasionally required to walk; use hands; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, and crouch.

Education and Experience:
A Bachelor’s Degree with a ND teaching license is required upon hire.

Terms of Employment:
Board approves teacher contract.

Salary:
Base salary is $42,000.00.

District pays both sides of TFFR (Teacher Retirement), 80% of health insurance plan, vision and dental insurances offered, life insurance offered (district pays death benefit up to $20,000.00)
