Behavior Therapist (Early Intervention/Autism)

*Extending offers during the COVID-19 pandemic*

We currently have part-time availability, and transition our Instructors to full-time within several months (but you may remain at part-time, if you can commit 20 hours/week, even as a current student).

At FirstSteps for Kids, state-of-the-art programs are designed and implemented to foster successful development in children with autism and related disorders. We use the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to increase skills and reduce behavioral excesses.

At the entry-level position, you would be provided with one month of hands-on training, covering how we teach our children skills, manage behaviors, and collect data on their progress. From there, you will be working 1:1 with clients, with each session lasting 2-4 hours. You work with the same clients year-round, so the child may benefit from established rapport and more effective teaching sessions.

We currently work with young children in the following areas:

* San Ramon/Dublin/Pleasanton

* Walnut Creek/Pleasant Hill

* Berkeley/Oakland

* Bay Point/Antioch

* Fremont/Hayward


Qualifications:

* High School Diploma/Bachelor's Degree

* Experience working with kids, (preferably in a therapeutic setting)

* A passion for working with kids

* Valid California drivers license, car and insurance

* Willingness to drive to clients throughout the East Bay area

* Flexibility to start part-time with the possibility of transitioning to full-time within a few weeks/months

* The desire to work for a company with a culture that values integrity, dedication and compassion

* Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

* Pass a Physical Screening by your personal physician

* Provide proof of immunity from the following: TB, Tdap, Hepatitis B, MMR, Varicella, Polio IPV
