Environmental Specialist

Position Description

       
Position Overview
 
This is a skilled position requiring a detail-oriented, organized, safety-minded individual to work in conjunction with the environmental team to ensure the compliance of activities at facilities located in the Boise, Twin Falls, Idaho Falls, and Jackson (WY) areas. The Environmental Specialist will work independently in the assigned geographical area.
 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Responsible for environmental assistance and support in Eastern Oregon, Southern Idaho, and Western Wyoming, and providing support to other areas as needed.
  • Be able to prepare, modify, renew, and review air quality permits, stormwater permits, SPCC plans, etc.
  • Be familiar and able to prepare and submit local, state and federal environmental reports including but not limited to EPCRA Tier II, TRI, RCRA, DMR’s, air emission inventories, etc. 
  • Be or become certified in air quality, water quality, and hazardous materials sampling, as appropriate.
  • Be able to understand and implement various environmental quality regulations.
  • Be familiar with Phase I, and Phase II Environmental due diligence requirements.
  • Have the ability to manage, update, and train on environmental data storage software and other environmental use software.
  • Be familiar with AutoCad or other maping programs
  • Work with cities, counties, states, tribal councils, and federal environmental quality agencies on land use and permitting.
  • Be able to conduct training, field instruction, coaching, and environmental implementation at faciliities.
  • Monitor changes and proposed changes in applicable Federal, State, and Local legislation.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
 

Qualifications

 
Education/Experience
  • Bachelor of Science degree in an environmental-related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
 
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
  • Intermediate skills in Excel, Word, Outlook, and related computer software.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be willing to travel and work away when required.
 
Physical Requirements
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 
 
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to crawl, kneel, bend, and reach with hands and arms above their shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move anywhere up to 25 lbs. Physical agilities test may be required.

Work Environment
