Environmental Staff Biologist
The Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG) is seeking an Environmental Staff Biologist to fill our current opening at our Magic Valley Regional Office in Jerome.

Responsibilities:
This position's responsibilities include assessing proposed management actions on fish and wildlife and their habitats. The successful applicant will be responsible for being familiar with site-specific fish and wildlife conditions and proposals, understanding the ecological and biological ramifications of management actions on fish and wildlife and their habitats, and effectively communicating both orally and in writing the management effects, alternatives, and proposed mitigation to agencies, professionals, and the public. Management actions most commonly evaluated include land use plans, housing development impacts, stream alterations, industrial and commercial developments, water rights, vegetation management including timber harvest, road construction, livestock grazing, and prescribed fire, hydro licensing, and transportation developments. The Environmental Staff Biologist position is responsible for coordinating with other IDFG regional fish and wildlife staff, is the point of contact for IDFG at the regional level, and is the primary resource person for the Regional Supervisor on all issues concerned with land use, state and federal land management, water rights, and compliance with environmental laws and regulations.
Minimum Qualifications: (These qualifications are required)
- Experience demonstrating good knowledge of fish, wildlife, conservation biology, plant ecology, and/or habitat management practices.
- Experience evaluating the impact of land use practices and natural processes on habitats, developing and interpreting statistical data and formulas used in biological research; and evaluating and interpreting environmental documents, state and federal regulations, and providing written and oral analysis of findings.
- Experience working with state and federal natural resource agencies and associated environmental laws.
Minimum Qualification Specialty Area: (This qualification is required for the current opening)

In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications for the position, the ideal candidate for the current opening will have experience evaluating land and water developments to determine impact on fish resources; collecting, evaluating, and interpreting statistical and other data relating to fishery research or fishery management, and writing reports of findings. Candidates who have such experience may be given additional consideration during interviews for the current opening in Jerome. Salary:
$26.55 - $35.40 per hour DOE, Plus Competitive Benefits!
