PCB Designer

METER Group, Inc. is looking for a PCB Designer to join our product development group in Horticulture. This technician will work closely with a hardware development team to design printed circuit boards for use in indoor (controlled environment) farms. Part of this person's time will be spent managing the company's Altium Library across multiple departments. The right candidate should thrive in a fast-paced and innovative product development environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Design printed circuit boards and create documentation under the direction of an electrical engineer.
  • Improve existing PCBs.
  • Incorporate change requests on PCB layouts and documentation.
  • Create CAD part libraries, schematic symbols, and layout footprints.
  • Order and maintain prototype components and PCBs.
  • Minor assembly and bring up of PCB assemblies
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Two-year technology Associate's degree in design, electronics, or degree in Mechanical Design or equivalent experience
  • Experience with PCB design software (Altium or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of good PCB routing practices to reduce EMI and maintain signal integrity.
  • Able to implement designs with a strong DFM (Design for Manufacturing) perspective.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
  • Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Basic knowledge of PCB fabrication, assembly, and test
  • Knowledge of IPC standards
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks
  • Soldering
  • Knowledge of test equipment, oscilloscopes, DMM, power supplies.
