Cloud (Systems)^2 Engineer – Job ID 10421

We have an AWS implementation that spans both unclassified and classified networks. We need someone to help us configure and administer our considerably complex network that connects to multiple external users (~100) and multiple external hardware devices (~50) across a jumble of different security DOD, DOE, and private protocols. It’s a puzzle, to be sure. This network supports future and current space missions, which automatically makes it really cool.
This work is in support of the Air Force Research Laboratory located on Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, NM. The emphasis here is on “research”, the network supports a large research project and the overall lab vibe is very much a research environment; the teams experiment and stress test different network and hardware configurations at a fast pace. In addition to working the architecture side of this network, there is an expectation for supporting the physical layer, too -- pulling cable and swapping out servers is definitely part of the job.
The candidate must be willing to live and work in Albuquerque, NM.
More words about the job responsibilities:
· Define rules of engagement and oversee day-to-day operations.
· Be the keeper of the requirements for the network so that it can be used as a virtual test bed.
· Inform management and recommend courses of action while others discuss crazy ideas that may or may not be compatible with the network. The expectation is to help bring those crazy ideas to life and be tested on the network.
· There are subcontractors, national labs, university research centers, and the DoD all working on this project. There are a lot of moving parts and you must be willing to collaborate in a team setting.
· Our team could use a good dose of modern testing methods, theories, and techniques for system testing.
Required Qualifications:
· BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
· 8+ years of relevant experience in in IT systems engineering, network engineering, and/or cloud architecture and implementation

· Can design networks and interconnect multiple communications protocols
· Understand DevOps tools and can implement and integrate the tools
· Familiar with DoD security requirements and operations
· Strong communications skills, both written and verbal
· Must be a US citizen and be able to obtain a DoD security clearance
· Must be able to travel as required (up to 20%, but usually nowhere near that much)
Preferred Qualifications:
· HW and SW test experience including functional and system testing
· Experience testing several of the following: embedded systems, networks, FPGAs, complex software solutions, space systems, cloud-based solutions and architecture, DevOps/DevSecOps
