Faculty Position, Oncology (Lung Cancer SPORE)

The Fred Hutch Lung SPORE invites applications for an open full-time faculty position at the assistant, associate or full professor level on the Physician/Scientist pathway within the Clinical Research Division (CRD) of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (Fred Hutch). We seek a laboratory-based scientist to conduct innovative, independent, and collaborative basic or translational research focused on lung cancer.
For consideration, the candidate must hold a PhD or MD (or foreign equivalent). Although most competitive applicants will have an established independently funded laboratory-based research program in lung cancer science, the committee will also consider applications at the assistant professor level. Pertinent research areas include (but are not limited to) molecular and genetic determinants of lung cancer initiation and progression, therapeutic resistance to targeted- and immune based therapies, tumor-initiating lung epithelial cell populations, and lung cancer early detection.
The Fred Hutch, home of three Nobel laureates, is an independent, nonprofit research institution dedicated to the development and advancement of biomedical research to eliminate cancer and other potentially fatal diseases. Fred Hutch, together with the University of Washington, Seattle Children’s, and the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, is an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center with active training programs for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. In addition, Fred Hutch has outstanding facilities and cutting-edge shared resources to support faculty success. Collaborative opportunities exist for joint and/or affiliate appointments in the Fred Hutch Divisions of Public Health Sciences, Human Biology, Basic Sciences, or Vaccine and Infectious Disease, as well as the University of Washington, depending upon candidate interest and qualifications.
At Fred Hutch, we believe that the innovation, collaboration, and rigor that result from diversity and inclusion are critical to our mission of eliminating cancer and related diseases. We seek employees who bring different and innovative ways of seeing the world and solving problems. Fred Hutch is in pursuit of becoming an antiracist organization. We are committed to ensuring that all candidates hired share our commitment to diversity, antiracism, and inclusion.
Anticipated start date would be July 1, 2021.
Application Instructions
Interested candidates should submit a curriculum vitae, a concise research statement, a diversity statement describing your past contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion and your future plans for continuing these efforts (two pages or less), and list of references, along with a letter of application addressed to Dr. McGarry Houghton. All applications received by December 1, 2020 will receive full consideration.
