Project Engineer

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Project Engineer is responsible for all activities that are carried out to successfully complete an assigned project. An ideal candidate would take their project from directly interfacing with customers, through design and manufacturing. Projects may range from composite or metallic tooling to production parts.  The candidate follows Janicki Industries procedures, standards, and expectations. A successful Project Engineer may become eligible for role advancement in the Program Management job hierarchy, with additional associated opportunities and responsibilities, at the discretion of the management team.

The following essential job functions are performed as a Project Engineer:
  • Develops and executes high level and detailed project plans
  • Works directly with the customer technical team to determine detailed requirements and deliverables
  • Communicates, consults with, and participates in Production and Design
  • Develops and analyzes schedules and budgets
  • Reports schedule progress regularly to the customer
  • Helps to develop and release planning and purchases supplies
  • Ability to perform design and drafting tasks related to the processing of a requested product
  • Maintains understanding of the product development and product realization processes
  • Must work well under pressure, meeting and completing multiple deadlines. Shall, at all times, demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors
  • Must be at work on time and maintain good attendance. This is a condition of employment and is an essential function of the job
  • Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
Due to our ITAR and EAR regulations, applicants must be a US Citizen or of Legal Permanent Resident Status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b (a) (3).

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is required. Education may be substituted with equivalent industry experience in aerospace, marine, or transportation industrial manufacturing.
  • Recommend minimum of six months to 1.5 years’ experience in engineering profession
  • Must have effective graphical, verbal, and written communication skills in the English language
  • Experience with SAP ERP Software is advantageous
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Software is required
  • Experience with CATIA and NX or equivalent CAD software is required
  • Minimum requirement for all positions is a high school diploma or GED
  • Must have effective verbal and written communication skills in the English language
  • Composite Part fabrication process experience
  • Lean manufacturing experience
  • Complex aircraft assembly experience
  • Must be willing and able to obtain government issued security clearance

OTHER/GOALS
  • Successfully run projects under multiple accounts to gain advanced skill in JI Business. process including Design, Project Planning, Purchasing and Supplier Management.
  • Become technically capable of training incoming Project Engineers and Project Managers.
  • Gain advanced technical product expertise in area of focus.
  • Highly capable in Management of non-standard tooling projects.

MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT USED
Computer, printer, fax machine, phone.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Must be able to work at keyboard for extended periods of time. Must be able to perform physical tasks on the production floor on occasion. May involve use of tools or climbing on parts. Physical hazards such as being in the immediate area with forklifts and other heavy equipment unavoidable. Chemical hazards in production work areas unavoidable.
