School Psychologist- Whitefish School District

SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT:
 
Provide a full range of school psychological services to support the academic and social emotional competence of students ages 3-18 in one or more sites in the Whitefish School District.
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Whitefish Public Schools seeks candidates with strong character, passion for excellence and a relentless commitment to student achievement. Applicants should also meet the following requirements);
  • M.A., M.S., Ed.S., or Ph.D in School Psychology.
  • Valid Montana Class 6 Specialist Certificate with endorsement as a school psychologist or eligible for certification.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Training and/or experience with Response to Intervention, MTSS and traditional psycho-educational/functional assessments.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to):
  • Participate in the MTSS and RTI process and demonstrate ability to utilize and communicate CBM information and other progress monitoring tools.
  • Attend Special Education meetings to help develop comprehensive plans for students.
  • Participate in the Student Assistance Teams to develop interventions for students.
  • Provide individual and/or group counseling.
  • Demonstrate continued professional development through course work, research, peer collaboration and/or job-embedded staff development.
  • Utilize evidence-based best practice in all aspects of work including pre-referral interventions, consultations and evaluations.
  • Participate in design, implementation, and evaluation of interventions with students experiencing academic and behavioral difficulty.
  • Consult with school staff, parents and others regarding student, classroom, and school-wide needs.
  • Administer, score, and analyze a variety of psycho-educational evaluations and/or supplemental assessments relevant to individual students. Identify and assess the learning, development, adjustment, and functional capabilities, characteristics, and needs of individuals and groups, as well as, the environmental factors that affect learning and adjustment. Use assessment data about the student and his/her environment(s) to develop appropriate, research based interventions and programs. 
  • Develop and help implement individual, group or system level interventions to improve or resolve academic, social/emotional/behavioral, and mental health needs as they relate to educational progress. Provide support, instructions, technical assistance and ongoing monitoring of progress toward measurable, identified goals for students at each level.
  • Provide training to staff and parents.
  • Assist in development and implementation of building-wide programs to support student behavioral and academic success.
  • Support development and implementation of data collection and analysis systems to support data based decision-making.
  • Be knowledgeable of and adhere to state and federal rules and regulations and district policy and procedures as they pertain to the education of students with disabilities, and professional ethics and standards of school psychology.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities for school psychologists.
  • Participate in ongoing and regular staff, team and individual professional development.
  • Collaborate with peers to develop, plan and implement best practices based on the needs/abilities of the students.
  • Engage in professional growth including continuous inquiry, professional development practices, application and sharing of research based practices.
  • Conduct Threat Assessments as needed.
  • Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans
  • Participate in Child Find when needed.
  • Attend staff, professional, and inter-agency meetings.
  • Perform such other duties as directed by the Director of Student Services
REPORTS TO: Director of Student Services/Building Principal
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This type of work involves walking, standing, and sitting for extended periods of time as required by situations of job position. Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral and written information, the manual dexterity to move related equipment, and the skills necessary to handle and work with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job.May be required to lift or move up to 20 pounds. The physical demands & work-environment characteristics described within this job description are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
School year working days as set by the Board of Trustees. Salary, benefits and other working conditions as negotiated between the Whitefish School District and Whitefish Education Association and as assigned by the administration.
 
EVALUATION:
Performance of said duties will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
