The Amalgamated Sugar Company LLC is seeking a Crop Consultant to serve as the primary contact between the Company, Owner and Growers. This position serves as the public relations person and is the primary source of agronomic information to their specific growers and community. Crop Consultants report to the District Agricultural Manager.
More specifically, the Crop Consultant will convey and recommend progressive agronomic and cultural practices to their growers. Additionally, they will advise and counsel growers in all phases of beet growing from land selection through harvest using the resources of company developed computer programs as well as guide growers in rotation, fertilizing, irrigation, cropping practices, and encourage proper soil sampling. This will require frequent visits to all grower fields during the growing season.

Additional Responsibilities:
· Understanding of and discuss terms of beet contract and represents the company in the actual signing of this and other related LLC documents with the grower.
· Work with individual growers in his/her assigned district to promote increased sugar content and improve sugarbeet quality.
· Keep abreast of current developments in the fields of herbicides, insecticides, nematicides, fertilization, irrigation practices and approved sugarbeet varieties.
· Supervise the harvesting and receiving of all sugar beets grown in assigned district.
· Supervise pile covering, storage, and reloading of beets at assigned stations.
· Understanding of the equipment used to prepare the soil, plant, spray, cultivate, and harvest sugarbeets, and can relate this basic knowledge to growers.
· Aid in the collection of grower agronomic data (AgriData) through the AgriData mobile application.
· Disseminates grower production statistics to growers and discusses with them ways to increase production.
· Prepare crop, acreage estimates, and other reports as required.
· Maintain complete grower agronomic records and use them to promote beet quality improvement.
· Able to read and understand oral and written policies, safety, environmental requirements, and other company policies.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Agronomy, Soil Science, Ag Business, or related field is required;
· Minimum 5-10 years of experience as a Crop Consultant or Agronomist; OR any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
