Water Conservation Intern
The Eagle River Water and Sanitation District provides high quality, affordable drinking water to its customers to protect public health and the natural surroundings. The District uses advanced treatment technologies and innovative approaches to water operations management, ensuring protection of its local watersheds. The Customer Service Department at Eagle River Water Sanitation District is responsible for delivering quality service in the areas of utility billing and customer support.
We are currently looking for students or recent graduates to intern with our Customer Service Department and support the district’s water demand management, customer communication, and drought management goals.
This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate, organized and solution oriented professional who has a commitment to customer service and a willingness to learn about water conservation technology, water utilities and infrastructure. The ideal candidate for this role must have strong customer service skills, some experience with data management and analysis, and be able to thrive in a fast paced environment with a highly productive team of fun and friendly people. The preferred dates for this internship are from mid-May to Mid-September.
What You Will Do:
· Support drought mitigation efforts including assisting with communicating to the public, assisting with mailing information to the public, and responding to customer inquiries as it pertains to drought mitigation
· Use customer information for the drought mitigation campaign
· Assess accounts for return on investment on water reduction efforts.
· Process and track irrigation permits electronically. Communicate coordination of efforts
· Assist customer with WaterSmart enrollment as well as calculation of reduction of water usage and subsequent cost
· Audit special irrigation permits accounts and data analysis
· Other duties and special projects as assigned
· Required to follow all District safety and security policies and wear Personal Protective Equipment as required by the job duties
Qualifications:
· Must be pursuing or have recently completed a Bachelor's degree (B. A. or B. S.) from a four-year college or university within Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Natural Resources Management, Environmental Communications, Water Resources, Finance, Communications, or related field; Or pursuing a technical degree from a Technical, Scientific or Trade Institution in Environmental Studies, Water Treatment, Wastewater Treatment, Watershed Science or other related course.
· Data analysis experience from school work or otherwise required.
· Strong communication skills.
· Must be willing to work outside in variable weather conditions.
· Must possess a valid Colorado Driver's License and be insurable by District standards.
· Required to follow all District safety and security policies and wear Personal Protective Equipment as required by the job duties
The pay range for this role is $16-$18/hour. Seasonal employees receive paid holidays and a $300 monthly housing stipend.
All District employees must submit to a pre-employment drug screen and extensive background check.
