Horticulture and Natural Resources Internship

Carpenter St. Croix Valley Nature Center (CNC) is a private non-profit nature center located 5 miles north of Hastings, MN on the scenic St. Croix River. Its mission is to develop and enhance appreciation for the natural world through quality environmental education, conservation practices, and outdoor experiences for visitors of all ages and capabilities.  The site consists of 725 acres of diverse habitats on both the Minnesota and the Wisconsin sides of the river including a Visitor Center, miles of hiking trails, an apple orchard, restored prairie and riverfront. 
 Position Description: 
Interns receive training from a professional Natural Resources Manager, help with the apple orchard utilizing Integrated Pest Management, assist with gardening, prairie restoration and land management at the Center. In addition, all interns at CNC are expected to design and complete an individual project of their choice to be used at CNC in the future. 
 
Benefits:
Benefits include professional training and regular evaluations, hands-on work experience, academic credit (optional), on-site housing and a $150 weekly reimbursement for each full time intern.
 
Qualifications:
CNC is seeking interns who have a desire to pursue a career in horticulture or natural resources, have a general knowledge of natural history, have an ability to relate well to all kinds of people, are self-motivated and reliable, and have excellent written and oral communication skills. Hiring preference is given to junior or senior students who are pursuing a degree in a related field.
