Transportation Planner 2 (NEPA Focus)

As a member of this team, you would contribute to CDM Smith's mission by:

-Working as part of a dynamic team on NEPA documents including CE, EA, and EIS (Categorical Exclusion, Environmental Assessment and Environmental Impact Statement's.)

-Work may include Section 106 Process documentation, noise analysis, and site assessments.

-Will perform environmental field work for existing Chicago Office City contracts as well as I-55 work.

-Collecting data, conducting surveys, and performing project research.

-Managing tasks on large projects or managing phases of small projects.

-Assisting in the development of planning strategy and recommendations.

-Providing planning expertise to project teams, when requested.

-Initiating and performing assigned project administration duties (monitoring budget and schedule with project manager oversight, preparing correspondence, and participating in general office duties.)
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Urban, Community or Regional Planning or related discipline. 1 year of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
Skills and Abilities
Basic knowledge of principles and methods for moving people or goods by all transportation modes, and understanding of current transportation trends/issues. Basic knowledge of government regulations, and agency rules. Basic knowledge of the practical application of regional and community planning. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, models, and equipment to study and/or design of movement of people, goods and services. Good written and oral communication skills.
