Project Manager Internship

Available for SUMMER 2022!

Gain valuable experience in a role that is responsible for successful identification and resolution of field, contract and construction conflicts. The Project Manager (PM) oversees construction projects and associated documentation through to completion of the project. The PM works alongside the development team to shepherd the project from the proposal stage and estimating process while meeting the client needs and company requirements.

ASSIST AND LEARN THE FOLLOWING ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES FOR OUR PROJECT MANAGER ROLE:

  • Compose and implement project specific work plan

  • Prepare required documentation such as submittals, bid packages, contracts, invoices, change orders, billing forecasts and other administrative requirements

  • Communicate deviations from original job bid to actual job site conditions to client, subcontractors, and secure additional work authorization prior to starting changes

  • Review the work performed by the subcontractors to ensure compliance with the contract documents and review and approve change orders submitted by subcontractors

  • Establish and track budgets

  • Create, track and coordinate project schedule

  • Negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers

  • Create and track billings

  • Work with Foreman to schedule tasks, determine best construction methods and control labor, equipment and material usage; Conduct on site meetings

  • Attend completion inspections utilizing contractor punch list

  • Attend final acceptance inspections as scheduled by governmental entities

  • Compile and submit O&M’s, as-builts, and as constructed drawings

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • 3rd or 4th Year Student working towards Degree in Construction Management / Civil or Mechanical Engineering

  • Strong knowledge or desire to learn/work in heavy civil construction materials, processes and equipment, including future employment with Knight

  • Motivated, hardworking, problem solver, attention to detail and well organized

  • Computer skills such as MS Office, AutoCAD, 3D Modeling, (BLUEBEAM, Sage 300-Timberline, and Primavera P6 scheduling software experience is helpful)
