Digital Analytics Analyst/Associate Data Scientist Intern

The Summer Internship Program is a vital piece of BECU’s hiring philosophy and strategy.  Interns are assigned a mentor in the department in which they will be working. The intern will work closely with their mentor throughout the duration of the internship. The opportunity is more than “sit back and observe”, our interns are integrated into daily duties of their respective departments, attend various meetings, and assist on departmental projects as assigned.  BECU interns bring a welcome perspective to our organization. This role is remote eligible from WA, OR, ID, GA and TX.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Learn practical usage of technology tools within an organization to include Azure Data Lake, Tableau, Alteryx, Google Analytics, EDW
  • Learn fundamentals of Digital Data Analytics and what is important when assessing the success of a product/channel
  • Data Analysis: Learn data analysis skills from team and mentors
  • Project Management: Learn to gather requirements from stakeholders, provide updates and check in’s
  • Communication and Presentations: Provide ad hoc analysis and build presentations that will be seen by wide distribution outside of Digital to include Marketing, Product partners. 
  • Projects will focus on areas of the business that are critical, including Membership Origination analysis, Digital Engagement Projects, Digital Optimization reporting and/or Forecast Analysis.
  • Engagement with numerous teams within Digital including Product Owners, Digital Directors and Executive level leadership
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Data Science, Computer Science, or Data Analytics related degrees preferred, others may be considered.
  • Course work should include focus areas in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science or Data Analytics.
  • Prior experience leveraging Tableau to create data visuals is required.
  • Previous experience working in data teams or providing reporting for websites, digital channels or performance reporting would be highly desired.
  • Data science experience in utilizing a large data set to build models would also be highly desired in this role.
  • Unique skills include, curiosity, presentation skills, ability to gather requirements from a large group of stakeholders and create data visualizations.
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.7+ required
  • Proven leadership skills either on or off campus preferred
  • Community involvement/volunteerism preferred
  • Participation in extracurricular activities preferred
  • Able to commit to a 12-week program throughout summer
  • Comprehensive Excel skill preferred
  • Strong written communication skills preferred
