Salary Range: $37,000.00 To 37,000.00 Annually

SUMMARY:
The Family Consultant (FC) works directly with an assigned group of pregnant women, infants, and toddlers and their families through weekly home visits to support and empower them in reaching their goals and preparing their child for life-long success. The FC is responsible for the planning and record keeping of visits and services provided, and works as part of a team in supporting program activities. Using curriculum and evidence-based tools, the FC conducts screenings and assessments to assist in developing goals and activities that facilitate the child’s developmental progress. 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Understand and implement the mission, philosophy, goals, priorities, and Standards of Conduct of MSEHS, Jannus, and the Office of Head Start
  • Maintain a program-wide commitment to a family centered, strengths and relationship-based approach
  • Build and maintain community relationships that support program performance and remove barriers 
  • Time management, regular and predictable attendance, attention to detail, follow through, accountability, professionalism, and creating inclusive and welcoming experiences are essential responsibilities
  • Promote the program through participation in recruitment, parent-child playgroups, classes, and outreach
  • Assume or assist with special projects as requested
WORKING WITH FAMILIES & CHILDREN
  • Maintain confidential and current record keeping and documentation 
  • Complete developmental screenings, assessments, referrals, and follow up, monitoring progress and outcomes
  • Assist families in identifying child and family goals, including successful transition from Early Head Start services
  • Jointly plan home visits with parents, honoring their values, and using their home as a rich learning environment 
  • Engage families as volunteers, involving them in all aspects of the program, including Policy Council
  • Support expectant families in preparing for the birth of their child, attaching, and receiving services 
  • Share learning opportunities for the family to support the child’s development in-between home visits
