Strategic Partnerships Project Assistant Internship at the National Museum of African American History and Culture Fall 2022

The Office of Strategic Partnerships (OSP) works to strengthen African American and African Diaspora museums, archives cultural heritage sites and Historically Black Colleges and Universities to connect resources to needs through the creation of opportunities that affect positive change in three key areas: (1) organizational capacity building, (2) diversification and career pipeline development, and (3) technical trainings. OSP works with national and international museum related service organizations along with subject-matter experts to achieve these goals. 

Strategic Partnerships Project Assistant Intern will assist in an analysis of institutional partners and programs from the past 10 years. The intern will work collaboratively across the department to compile a profile for each partner/initiative to identify project goals and impact. The intern will conduct research to identify digital content referencing partners to develop a database of information that will be used to create an online presence featuring strategic partnerships. This internship will culminate in a Leadership Summit that brings national/international leaders together for a discussion on the future of Strategic Partnerships for the next 10 years.

The ideal candidate will have some knowledge/appreciation for the cultural sector, abilities in meeting/program planning, research, and excellent writing and communication skills. The intern selected for this position will be expected to attend the Leadership Summit in Washington, DC scheduled for early December (dates to be determined). Travel and lodging will be provided by the Office of Strategic Partnerships.

Duties Include (but are not limited to):

Prepare an inventory list of Institutional Partners.
·      Create a summary profile for each partner that highlights the museum related initiative and the organization’s stated purpose and goals.
·      Conduct online research to identify instances of partners mentioned in the news/other media.
·      Assist in planning logistics for the Leadership Summit.
·      Assist in the development of an online pre/post-meeting survey tool.
·      Contact Partners for data collection purposes.
