Finance Associate (US/EU rotation)

The Finance Associate will execute the performance reporting to the Regional Head of Finance, leading to corrective steering and other fundamental decisions by the Finance Leadership Team. Support other financial management processes (OD, PRM, SMP, CAR) and monthly and closing activities.
Activities are characterized by volatile working patterns whereby RHOF content often has to be created within short time frames without room for sub-optimal quality.

Responsibilities
Essential Function 1:                   Execute recurring performance reporting to RHOF and RCS            
  • Execute the monthly sales report and draft the corresponding communication to RHOF and RCS                                                                    
  • Execute the monthly financial (MCFS) report                                                               
  • Execute quarterly and create ad-hoc performance reports for RCS meeting                                                                       
  • Validate accuracy/reliability of data applied for performance reporting, actively follow-up in case of issues
Essential Function 2:                    Execute ad-hoc corporate controlling activities                                                       
  • Create ad-hoc performance reports for the department, and follow-up on information inquiries                                                                 
  • Take part in closing activities and other investment projects                                                               
  • Draft presentations for RHOF (e.g., MCFS) and quarterly results for RCS
Essential Function 3:                    Support other corporate controlling activities                                                       
  • Support financial planning processes including objective setting (OD) and strategy formulation (SMP)
  • Support the review of investment proposals on request of CAR coordinator
  • Support team members team in other ad-hoc corporate controlling activities e.g. Monthly BU reports
Essential Function 4:                    Development goals
  • Build-up experience in other finance disciplines and other areas (e.g. BU) through short-term assignments
  • Develop an international and cross-functional network within Clariant, supporting future performance

 Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Finance or related area, Master’s degree preferred
  • Knowledge of basic controlling and accounting concepts
  • Expert knowledge of MS Tools Excel and PowerPoint required, Power BI
  • Compared to more typical controlling roles, not only good understanding of P&L but also of Cash Flow and Balance Sheet concepts
  • Must demonstrate sense of ownership and accountability. Works with a results-oriented approach, a sense of urgency, uses sound judgment and has strong attention to detail
  • Must be flexible (willing to work in volatile working patterns incl. substantial overtime hours during peak periods) and able to effectively manage multiple competing priorities
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels in an organization and approach tasks with a can-do and positive attitude
  • Outstanding analytical and conceptual competence
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)
